Ta Dumbong Kro Aung Statue ( Black man Statue ) Founded in the 11th century by the Khmer Empire, Battambang is the leading rice-producing province of the country. For nearly 100 years it was a major commercial hub and provincial capital of Siamese province of Inner Cambodia (1795-1907), though it was always populated by Khmer, with some ethnic Vietnamese, Lao, Thai and Chinese. Battambang remains the hub of Cambodia’s northwest, connecting the region with Phnom Penh and Thailand.

The locals come here to pray and offer gifts, flowers and food to this statue. He has the power to hear your prayers, based on what I'm told. He was a kid who threw the stick to overthrow a king, and the stick was lost forever, hence the name of the town means "lost stick".

I came here and made my offers of lotus flowers, donations and prayers. It was great to see it up close and a beautiful statue with a great story behind it.

Ta Dambong Kra-nhaung is a symbol of respect, sympathy, integrity, trust and responsibility for people living in Battambang. In his truly marvelous reputations and spiritual history of “the Magical Stick”, Battambang is become the famous rice’s producers and the biggest rice exporting in Cambodia.,
